Complications of Obesity

Obesity and being overweight are considered to be metabolic disorders caused by a host of medical reasons.

A person is considered to be underweight if his/her BMI is < 19. Being overweight is observed when the BMI is between 19-24. Obesity is the chronic phase of being  overweight and occurs when the BMI is > 30. Being overweight and obesity are caused when there is an imbalance between calories consumed and calories exhausted. These conditions are also caused because of certain medical conditions including hypothyroidism, depression, diabetes and heart diseases. Certain medications like steroids, antidepressants can also lead to being overweight and obese.

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is a condition also known as hypertension, which is seen when the force of blood exerts pressure on the walls of arteries and veins.

Diabetes Mellitus

If some of the heart muscle die, a person experiences chest pain and electrical instability of in the heart muscle tissue.
